Are you into Innovation ?
You are at the right place.
What do I do ?
In the year 2018, during my first year of Undergrad, I along with my couple of friends from class founded a club called Innovators Hub. It all started when we were sitting in a class lecture of Engineering Design Principles. The professor was teaching us the topic of Product Development Cycle, which consisted of the following elements namely, Ask ? Imagine? Brainstorm? Develop? Test? Review ? Improvise ?
And Eureka!! An idea ignited our minds, how about we try something of our own? A product ? A software maybe ? No, bigger than that, a platform a club that can bring together such like minded students who want to pursue something , who want to pursue their ideas and bring it to real world. We were curious as to how to start? So we looked at simple problems that people face in their daily lives. Then we realized that we need to go out into the field and into the common public to understand what they actually want. From this, we realized that the next step was to have a team to brainstorm ideate and develop such ideas. So came into existence the club Innovators Hub. And soon within a few months we were a team of 12 people working on how to develop a product and bring it to life. But how do we do that? We have not done this before. So now came our first professor and mentor from the university the very same professor who taught us the introductory course. And soon we decided to take a shot at it and proceed. Few weeks into the first product we realized that this is not practically feasible and thus all our work went to scrap. Not only that, the initial team members lacked the conviction behind the idea of Innovators Hub. So we started searching for more innovative products be it hardware or software based.
And so we didn't stop, we came across another brilliant idea soon and started working on it. And to our luck, we came across a hackathon an international hackathon based out of Delhi organized by the Times group. It was a great opportunity to participate, but we did not have the support from the university yet. So two of our teams participated in that on our own expense and we won the 2nd position prize along with further incubation opportunities from the Govt from India. It was a miracle for us and that day Innovators Hub was born. Since this word spread across the city about us and soon we recruited more students to our team. At the same we also did a few skill development based workshop for engineering students on topics like Animation, Git and Git Hub, Introduction to Stock markets etc.
And at the same time Covid hit and we had to halt and go online. But our work didn't stop and we won a Covid Ministry India Hackathon as well and gained national attention from investors and incubations. By 2021, we had a team of 60+ and students from different field of engineering such as Computer Science, Electronics, Mechanical, Automation, Civil, etc. and now Innovators Hub had a dedicated team for Tech and Non Tech development as well. It wasn't long before we completed over 35+ hackathon wins , 30+ talk and skills development workshops and 3 major talk events in our university. Soon by 2022, as we the founders graduated we handed over the club to our juniors who expanded it to a team of more than 500+ with students also from School of Design, Law, Marketing, etc. Innovators Hub also grew out of the university borders and we established a global community called the Ionosphere where we did such interactive learning events for all the students, This community stands at 3000 people.
Today, Innovators Hub is rebranded as The Innovation Hub and is the official student body of MIT WPU with many professors as our mentors and IH representing many national events across the country. We didn't stop here, the three of us co founded a company called INEW( Innovation and New) ( Isaac Newton) whatever you would like to call it, where we do some level of app development, website development, and freelancing to private clients. Not only that, we also came up with a problem solving app called TeamUp Collaborations for uniting the students, Universities and Individual firms and solve problems of daily life.
As a part of learning and growing, we still interact with students of various universities and help them with their own products and go to market strategies and help them raise funds.
Raising funds reminds me of the social work that we do often to work towards empowering the underprivileged through our fund raisers and collaborations with various organizations such as Rotary clubs, NGOs and Sakal India initiatives.
